The City of Fort Worth Reinstates One Phony in Office.

It has been a year that really people actually started to “give a crap” about bullying. We all can relate one of the two events that helped shaped this “Revolution” Why must we all start to realized someone who has to die, in order to take action on issues that need some one to take care off. Last year around this time, everyone remembers the death of the student from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Tyler Clementi was just a Freshman at school, and at the same time I’m sure he was still trying to see how the process was going. Apparently he and another male had sex in his dorm and his roommate was mocking him and sending that video everywhere. He really couldn’t take this anymore, and his roommate was pretty much gave him a lot of shit and the very sad moment happen when he took his life away by jumping off a bridge.

To make this even worse, every all know and  loves Joel Burns, who is currently the City Council Member in Fort Worth, Texas in his District. He gave a speech under tax dollars money about what he has suffered though during theses years, and told the City Council that he was Gay.

So, to make this point, I still dislike the guy. He uses Gay Bullying as a selling point to win elections, but why in a local level? Does he want to be Vice-President for Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, or Michelle Bachman? Really, during this time, he has spent a lot of time fundraising nationwide, and even had time to be in play over the Summer My Big Gay Italian Wedding. Preppy Issues has tried to get interviews with him, but there has never been any responses back from his office in Fort Worth.

But, when does he have time to worry about city issues? I have yet for him to see him speak about issues that Fort Worth has to deal with, and the next big test that Dallas just wrapped-up last night about the redistricting Process and the budget, but many other cities have issues and cuts that they all have to deal with it.

The answer, trying to become a little Ms. Sarah Palin Jr. Hey, I would care less if he becomes a drag queen for all I care, but both of them share the same traits that we have seen from Palin from theses years now. All she ever does is fundraise, fundraise, and yes fundraise and trying to be famous. Does anyone ever like her anymore?

The point of the matter is, you can’t use scapegoats to try to gain a seat in public office, or waste taxpayers money on phony items. At the same time, why does everyone just started to care about bullying and yet more Young Gay Teens are killing themselves for being picked on and feeling that there hopeless. I really do want anything of bullying to stop, but why use action to win a race?

City of Dallas Redistricting

Here’s my view point about some of Today’s City Redistricting Meeting and about the topic in general. Via Preppy Issues

DISD’s New Redistricting Plans are out!

Now, it’s DISD’s turn to redraw maps from the 2010 Census and they have now come out with 4 plans. Theses maps are not as a big deal, and nothing dramaitc, but the maps are now for you to look at the Districts Redistricting Page. Meetings are set for Next Week and for the Week of August 1st, with location sites TBA. We’ll be there to cover one or two of the meetings, so check the page for updates.

Things to watch with the maps: (Spoiler Alert!)
-I’m really worried about West Dallas, many of the maps have them split with 8, 5, and 7. District 8 looks like almost like District 6 in the City Council.

-There is one area south of Love Field which every map has District Two in for some reason.

-There is one map that has Woodrow with District 2, thats for you to find out.

-Otherwise, just some places being shift to other districts, nothing as bad for my neck of the woods.

HEB Vs. Wal-Mart

The price wars are getting at it, and it was time to do some shopping to two places. Many of you that are from different parts of our great state of Texas have heard of even gone to HEB, which in my case the best stores ever! I went to Wal-Mart last weekend, and my bill cost a bit more, which at first was about $34.40, but after coupons, my cost ended up with $30.40. At this rate, the Sunday paper is my friend and clipping coupons have been my hobbie for about 10 minutes every week. The bakery items that you can get which would be your Donuts, Cookies, Rolls, and breads were about 50 cents a pieces which was about $4 for four pieces. I was stocking up for snacks since I was running out, and got a bit of everything from Yougrt to Blue Bell. Luckly, the Wal-Mart is walking distance across from the school so if I needed anything, it’s by reach if anything were to happen. The HEB is a bit far, so I would have to get a ride to there, and finally I got to go to HEB for the first time in quite of while. I needed to get some Cokes and while I just ended up getting about three 12-packs of HEB brand coke which I love, I went ahead and was shock at some prices. For example, the baked items were 45 cents each, and got 4 that equaled to $1.80, less then 20 cents at Wal-Mart. I ended up spending about $22.27 since I had to get dinner, and a bottle opener for my Mexican Cokes that were left sitting for about two bucks. I’ll say HEB is better, because of quailty and some shocking prices since I would think that they would have prices a bit higher, but which one would be better?

The First Day Down

Well, the first was a breeze pretty much, and after a weekend of just packing from the long trip down here, the calm before the storm on the first week. Today, I pretty much had one class and the Philosophy Professor was very intesting. On the first day I learned something today, there was some debate about Europe and Asia, and maybe if any of my teachers were reading this, I really didn’t know or just always though that Europe and Asia were two different continents. I’m not really going to get there, but this can be over coffee. I’m starting to meet more people, and now it seems im I’m already in with a groupie, thanks to my roomate. Thats a wrap-up for now!

From the CEO

Last season, many things had happen and ended up as a blast from Openings to championships! Now, many things are going to turn around and we thanks many of our readers and followers who have read and had the chance to meeting and interview with. As many of you may or may not know, I will be attending UT Pan American in Edinburg, TX in the Valley majoring in Journalism. I have met so many people though out this process and I just wanted to thank everyone for there support and leadership. We will continue with the blog, but things are going to be change in this process. Now, the blog will be more focused on just college life so everyone can keep up with everything that is going on. Number two, our e-mail address is going to be changing also, to preppyissues@gmail.com. I will also try to go out to some school board meeting and see what there up to and do some comparisons. Of course, the Mailing address will change, so as soon as I get it set, let me know if you want it. I can’t say how much more there is to be excited about in theses next couple of months with college and trying to figure out how the system, to a new school year back home, and the opening of the new Extended Green Line close to home! The Green Line is one of the most and largest projects in the nation, but at the end of the day, it will make connections and even trips shorter to Downtown and many places and now it will just be a bus and a train ride getting Downtown and back! I can’t wait to hear about the many exciting things coming up as well with the 2011 Elections of not only the next three DISD School Board seats, but many more as we in many other cites and Dallas as well will be voting for Mayor and City Council. As much as I would I love to experience the changing motions in our city, it is now time for a new life, but don’t worry people, I will come back for the Holidays as well. I will miss meeting all the exciting people and talking about the issues that we face today, and I wish everyone here in North Texas a Happy and great School Year as we now been online for a year, and a new direction of the blog is steering into a new horizon.

DART Update 7/28

Flex Route 870 will begin operating on a detour that will return two-way service to 18th Street between Rigsbee Drive and Avenue J, beginning Monday, August 9.

Counter-clockwise routing from Downtown Plano Station will no longer operate over Jupiter Road, 17th Street and P Avenue. The clockwise routing will remain unaffected, as will the schedule and flex zone boundaries.

DART Update 7/27

DART will conduct a third simulation of State Fair operational procedures on Sunday morning, August 1. The five-hour exercise, beginning at approximately 7 a.m., will again affect regular Green Line service and require bus substitution for a portion of the route.

Green Line trains will operate on a clockwise circle, serving West End, Akard, St. Paul, Pearl, Deep Ellum, Baylor University Medical Center, Fair Park, Cedars, Convention Center and Union stations. Service between Victory and West End stations, and between Fair Park and MLK, Jr. stations will be provided by shuttle buses. Shuttles will also operate between MLK Jr., and Pearl stations, serving Fair Park, Baylor University Medical Center and Deep Ellum stations.

Remember to cross tracks only at designated crosswalks and to look both ways. Trains may approach from either direction on any track.

Regular Green Line service will resume at approximately 12 noon.

Sunday, August 1, 10:30 a.m. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey: ZING ZANG ZOOM performance at the American Airlines Center:
Service between Victory and West End stations will be provided by shuttle buses between 7 a.m. and 12 noon. Green Line trains resume service at approximately 12 noon at Victory Station.

Also, Construction to prepare all remaining DART Rail station platforms for new Super Light Rail Vehicles continues at Mockingbird Station.

Trains will not stop at Mockingbird Station on:
Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 1
Saturday, Aug. 7, & Sunday, Aug. 8*
(*if necessary)

Shuttle buses will operate between Mockingbird and the three adjacent rail stations – Cityplace to the south, and both Lovers Lane (Red Line) and White Rock (Blue Line) to the north.

DART Update 7/23

Tues, July 27 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.), Stemmons Trail, WB Spur 482 and all ramps leading to WB Spur 482 are closed.

Restrictions of O’Connor/Lake Carolyn Pkwy scheduled for Fri, July 23 through Mon, July 26 has been cancelled.

Fri, July 23 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.), WB SH 114 near Spur 348 (all lanes) and ramp from EB SH 114 to Spur 348 are closed.

Fri, July 23, Green Park will be closed to thru traffic to provide a staging area for bridge construction.
