Well Informed!

Booker T. is a really good place to get info about the latest things. Our PTSA has sent info on anything that goes on. Lately there was a attached message by our prinicipal, Ms. Tracy Fraley. Take a look at all thats said.

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL.  YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED THIS FROM ANOTHER SOURCE, BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE AND READ!

Security Alert:  The last two mornings we have observed a man parked in
the teacher lot who appears to be watching our students and staff as
they enter the building.  It also appears he has a notebook of some sort
that he is looking at as he sits in his car.  He parked in such a manner
that he was very hard to see until you were very close to him.  On both
days, he has driven off when he saw security or an administrator
approach. He is described as approximately 50-60 years in age and of either
Hispanic or Anglo descent.  He is driving a four door silver compact
car. If you see him in the lot, please do not approach him. Alert security
immediately or call the school at 972-925-1200.

(I didn’t know anything about this, if this was in the news let me know.)

Kudos and Fun News:  Please take a moment to enjoy the sidewalk chalk
math in the green room!  Thanks to Ms. Jalilvand’s Algebra II class for
the math problems and the very creative solutions!  (Yeah Ms. Jalilvand
for creating a RIGOROUS, RELEVANT, and FUN learning activity!)

*(This is what I call learning and more teachers should be doing this, I’ll take some pictures of this if is still there)

Community Event:  There is a reception on Tuesday, 11/17 from 4 PM to 6
PM at the DISD Administration Building to honor Board Member, Ron Price,
and his lengthy service to the district.  If you are interested in
attending, please let Sharon Cornell or Ms. Fraley know.

(I’m not sure if its a open event, I’ll let you know)

Avoid Tickets and Fines:  The city of Dallas has posted NO PARKING signs on both sides of the street along Flora through the Arts District. Directly in front of the school, there are one hour only parking signs. The grace period ended yesterday, 11/13.  The city is planning to actively write tickets to violators starting today. Enforcement is 24 hours a
day 7 days a week!!!!!!

(FYI for everyone else)

Also, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to know that the DISD Police, the Dallas Police, and the DART Police are also writing tickets to jaywalkers.  Everyone is reminded to use the cross walks at all times.  For students vising 7-11 to or from the school, you MUST walk to the light at Flora and Routh streets and cross using the cross walk and light signals.  (Fines are $125 and requires a court appearance with a parent!)

Here this brothers me. I feel that the DISD are everywhere and they don’t even work in places that are not DISD property. DART police also working on DISD grounds? I feel fine with Dallas PD, since its city grounds, but now theres is just so many police and they don’t even come when we need them. I had a problem with a thing that happen where it was out side DART ground, but city grounds and the person was riding the DART bus every day. It seems to be that everything is a power ground and one other the other is just power. At the fair, it seems that DISD police don’t take a break and they were there on duty. Ya, there is the problem with kids going crazy at the fair and things get out of hand, but I did see a Dallas PD cop arrest a student. We’ll just see what happens, but the Jaywalking crackdown is going on all over downtown.
