A lot of new changes have come to the McAllen area, and it’s been a year now that changes have come to the McAllen Bus System. The next step is services changes that will in in place effected February 6. The follow link has the new schedules and maps, as a matter a fact, each route will have their own schedule, unlike just the 1 for all the routes. http://www.mcallen.net/metro/riding/schedule.aspx
Route 1. Move Service from 17th Street past Fresno Street to 16th Street southbound towards Jackson starting at Houston Street. Expand Service along 17th Street to Houston Street. Reduce Frequencies along 23rd Street Southbound past Sarah and along Military Highway towards Ware Road to run every other hour. Add Service along Sarah Ave westbound towards Ware RD every other hour as well. Add Service along Ware Road southbound from Sarah Ave to Military Hwy. West on Military Hwy, North on S. 42nd Street to Ursula Ave. Eastbound to Ware Road towards Sarah where it will continue its route. Delete Service along Military Highway past 42nd Street. Move Service along Colbath Road Past 26th Street to the US 83 Service Road to 23rd Street. Move Service along 15th Street to Main Street from Jackson to Houston Street and continue towards the Central Bus Station along 16th Street. Change Arrival times from 15th and Houston to 16th and Jackson to arrive at :05, arrive at Military Hwy and 42nd Street at :20. All other times will remain the same.
Route 2. Reduce the frequency from Trenton along 23rd street, Oxford; southbound on 29th Street to Trenton will be reduced on Even Hours only. Service will be Daily at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, (Mondays-Saturdays) 6:00 AM, 8:00 PM, 10:00 PM.
Route 3. Reduce the frequency along 29th Street Northbound past Trenton to Oxford to 23rd Street to Trenton to Odd Hours Only. Service would be on Monday-Saturdays at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.
Route 4. Expand service along 17th Street southbound towards Houston Street as well along 10th Street past Wichita Ave Southbound towards the 2nd Street Loop and Northbound towards 2nd Street to Savannah Ave where from there it will remain the same route. Delete Service along Main Street and Fresno Streets where portions will be serviced by Route 1. Delete Service Northbound Service on 10th Street from Wichita, Eastbound along the US 83 Service RD, and 5th Street towards Savannah. Portions of this route will be serviced by Route 7. Move Service from 15th Street to 16th Street from Houston Street towards the Central Bus Station.
Route 5 Add a 0:15 departure at the Texas Health and Human Resources building. Modify to serve between Pecan Ave, Bicentennial, Quince, 25th, Tamarack, and 29th Street. Move service from Main Street past Datepalm towards 15th Street.
Route 6 Move service from Main Street between Business 83, Dateplam to 16th Street. Modify service along Hackberry, Cynthia, Ebony and McColl to be service by Route 7. Delete service from starting from McColl along Esperanza to J to Fern. Move service from 29th Street from Nolana to Daffodill to Ware Street Southbound and from Pecan to Business 83. Add service along Pecan from 29th to Ware. Delete Service between 29th Street, Tamarack, 25th, Quince, Bicentennial, and Pecan. Remove route along Pecan from Bicentennial to 29th Street. Service to STC and the modified route will be covered by Route 5. Departure times will change. At :05, arrive at Main and Peacan, :15 arrive at McColl @ Jasmine, :25 meet at Nolana @ Bicentennial, :30 arrive at Nolana @ Ware, and :40 at Ware @ Business 83.
Route 7 Modify to serve Hackberry, McColl, Ebony, and Cynthia, delete service from Shasta, 6th, and Nolana as well as service along 2nd Street past Savannah, Add service along 2nd street past Dove to Trenton to McColl Southbound to Violet as well along the US 83 Service Road from McColl, to 10th Street West and Eastbound to 5th Street. Service will be added along 5th Street to Savannah to McColl towards the Central Station. Delete Service along Dove. (VA Clinic will be serviced by Route 4.) Departure Times will change as well. At: 20 arrive at Trenton and McColl, and at: 25 arrive at 2nd Street @ Nolana Southbound.
And by the way, this Sunday if you wear your Giants or Patriots gear, you get to ride Metro McAllen for free. Remember that Routes 1, 2, 4, 6 only runs on Sundays.
